Domestic violence seems to be the arrest of choice for law enforcement these days. The police and the State Attorney take these charges very seriously. If the police are called to a domestic disturbance it seems that at least one person is always arrested, whether they are at fault or not. The real problem with the arrests for domestic battery is they are usually unfair to one if not both, of the parties.
If you are arrested for domestic battery, you will be held with NO BOND, until your first appearance which must be held within 24 hours of your arrest.
Merely because you were arrested for domestic battery, does not mean formal charges will be filed by the State Attorney. Most of the time, there are many circumstances to domestic violence cases and there are ALWAYS two sides to the story.
